Special Projects

Plaques marking historical sites or honouring local significant people have been erected by the Society throughout the Region. Donations toward the cost of a plaque may be made.  Tax receipts will be issued.

A generous donation by Eldon Weber of an original deed of sale was made to the Society. This Deed of Sale was between Joseph Brant and Richard Beasley, John Baptiste Rousseau and James Wilson for the sale of Block Number Two. Dated 25 November 1796, this indenture was recorded in Newark Upper Canada on 28 January 1797 by Thomas Ridout, Notary Public. This deed is one of the oldest documents in the WHS archives. It was professionally restored. As well, full size colour copies have been made available for sale for $20.00. Contact us for more information.

In 2006, a plaque marking the anniversary of rail travel in this area was placed in the Kitchener railway station.
